With the last full month of summer upon me and with whatever spare time I have left in my day, I am always, always, trying to fit in time to read. Reading is one of my favorite past-times. I like nothing more than the smell and feel of a good old fashioned book in my hand! (I’m not quite sold on readers or eBooks yet.) Books are my time to get away from the busyness of the real world and into the pages of something with great detail and depth.
One of my first things that draws me into a book, other than the topic of course, is looking at the book cover. I love strolling through local bookstores just to see all the new tomes. When a book cover jumps out at me, it’s usually because it’s clean, has great fonts, and the colors or images are powerful. Do you agree?
This summer, I held a Literary Book Exchange and I had such a great time. Guests had to bring a book and pair it with a drink, then trade it with someone else at the exchange. Everyone ended up with a new (or gently used) piece of reading material. I’ve read quite a few books this summer and I have to say, I want you to read them too. While they might not be new releases, they are most certainly good reads.
So, check out my summer book recommendations and curl up with a fantastic book, a great glass of wine, and get reading!
In need of a new book recommendation on a regular basis? Wondering what book club book people are reading? One place I recommend online is Good Reads. I like this site because they’ve a plethora of topics to choose from and while signing up may be just another email you receive in your in bin, it’s totally worth it if you’re a reader and need new book ideas!
