With fall in full effect as of Sunday, New York Fashion Week over, school back in session, Starbucks rolling out their autumn drink list, and October looming closely around the corner, my husband and I have decided to take a much, much needed vacation.
You know those times when you find yourself asking, “Am I living to work?” wishing that you could adopt the European work schedule. Well that hit my husband a month or two ago, which prompted us to reflect on how quickly the summer flew by, which let to more discussion about us getting out of dodge, getting in a car, and getting a road trip underway… You didn’t have to ask me twice! Traveling? Ummm, yes please! Planning? Coming together. Trip? Booked.

What to Prep for A Stylish Road Trip?
Per my last blog entry, one must start with a proper packing list….But in addition to the packing list, when planning a vacation, what’s the best thing to use? Why a Travel America Calendar to plan countdown the days, of course! This calendar from Anthropologie is perfect.

We are so excited to visit the great Texas capital. When our trip was in its planning stages and we were telling friends where on the map we were headed, every time we mentioned Austin it was followed by a, “OH, you’re going to have so. much. fun!” Needless to say, there was no shortage of suggestions for where to stay, eat, and go to listen to great music. (I’ll be documenting most of this via Instgram, surprise, surprise!)
How does one find our way around? Why, The Scout Guide, of course! When I was in Charlottesville last year I saw this series in a boutique store and found it so appealing. Great images alone, flipping through the guide will give you a plethora of suggestions for what to do and where to eat. They have lots of fun guides for plenty of cities!

Austin conjures up images of free spirits, music festivals, and an easy laid back life style. Here are some of my packing inspirations.
New Orleans, LA.

I can’t wait to taste Creole food, BBQ, and seafood galore. Eating in New Orleans is going to be amazing! Boat ride on the Bayou? That’s most definitely on the list of to-dos.

Another city full-up on food choices. BBQ is top of the list here, along with drinks and food from Paulette’s, thanks to a recommendation from my new Memphis blogger friend Laura from, Walking in Memphis in High Heels (how cute is that?!) We are staying at a great place called River Inn that overlooks the Mississippi River, so we’re sure to pick up some great sunsets!

What happens in the cities on a Stylish Road Trip?
One of the most fantastic opportunities that comes with the blogging community is reaching out other bloggers and making new friends. When I was brainstorming ideas for how to integrate my road trip and my blog, an idea hit me! Why not try to reach out to other creatives (ie: photographers, bloggers, etc) and meet-up, all the while, documenting the trip?! Kinda like a happy hour but with creative strangers. Why not!?!
Thanks to a recommendation here-and-there, voila! I get to meet these fabulous people in these fabulous cities: Check them out online and/or when your in their neck of the woods next time.
Can’t wait to meet you ladies! I know we’re going to have a great meet-up.
Don’t forget to check out my C & C Autumn Road Trip Pinterest Board and my Instagram photos with the hash tags #ccstylishroadtrip & #candcautumnroadtrip for updates on our road trip day-to-day!
