Growing up, every Christmas Eve the entire Challburg clan (7 aunts, 7 uncles, 17 cousins, grandma, and a partridge in a pear tree…..) on my father’s side would gather together for a family gift exchange and an all out eating extravaganza. This was always one of my favorite times of the year because it was when the family members baked and cooked all the holiday favorites. I was never disappointed. One of the sweetest things I couldn’t wait to get my hands on was my Aunt Pam’s Monkey Bread. It was to die for. I would fill up my plate until it overflowed with ooey-gooey Monkey Bread wonderfulness and sop up every.last.bite. I always wanted to know how to make monkey bread.
I had almost forgotten about my most coveted of childhood desserts until I saw Leah’s recipe on Freutcake this week!!
I met Leah, of the delightful blog Freutcake back in the summer at an Anthropologie event and she is lovely. Not-to-mention, Freutcake has amazing inspiration for food and cocktail beverages! So this is what I’m making this morning….getting right on it for the start of a yummy, sweet inspired holiday week. Do you have a favorite family recipe for the holidays?
Here’s another beautiful Monkey Bread recipe from the Smitten Kitchen….with cream cheese frosting?!? It just keeps getting better and better.
