Hi Friends! Today’s style post veers away from the usual style of clothes and into hosting a themed book swap party.
I love reading and I love getting books and recommending great books to read. So this year, with my birthday coming up, I thought I’d host a themed book swap party. I gave it a themed title, The Literary Luncheon Book Exchange, and hosted it in my home, with a small group of friends and what a great time we had! If you’re thinking of hosting a book swap party (I’d highly recommend it) here is a look at a few easy DIY ideas to host a book swap party of your own.
Book Swap Party Tip #1 | Themed Invitations
A great place to find inspiration for themed book swap party invitations is Paperless Post. I searched “books” & “library” and was able to customize my own invitation to match my book swap party theme!

DIY DETAILS for Your Themed Book Swap Party Table Setting
1 | Book exchange table with DIY Flag garland: made from the napkin fabric, book pages, and ribbon, then cut into triangles and hung across the mantel.
2 | Book marks were given to each guest made out of book pages & craft paint.
Book Swap Party Tip #3 | DIY your own Book Exchange Backdrop
DIY Book Exchange Backdrop: Created with pages out of an old book and hot-glued to burlap. Dried moss was added with a hot-glue gun along the edges and laced throughout the pages of the backdrop.
Book Swap Party Tip #4 | Ask Guests to Bring a Themed Drink to Match Their Book!
When hosting the book swap party, keep it fun & interesting by throwing in a “guest take away”. Invite the book swap party goers to bring a themed beverage to match the book. This makes for a lively swap filled with lots of sharing (and stealing!) of favorite books & beverages.
