The Benefits of Wearing A Monochromatic Outfit

Monochrome means one single color or varying tones of one hue.  Monochrome can mean shades of black and white.  Or it can mean taking one color and changing it slightly by adding white or grey.

Monochrome in the Art World

In the art world, monochromatic artwork is made up of one color.  It allows images to come to life using one color and diluting it create different shades.  The use of light and dark enables artists to create pictures on paper.  Monochromatic painting often represents tranquility and purity.  Painting with one color allowed artists to paint in its purest form.  Artists could focus on texture and form.

Monochrome in the World of Style

Monochrome in the world of style is comparable to minimalism in design.  Dressing head to toe in monochrome allows the wearer to see the line, shape, and form of clothing in its simplest form, just as in art.  From a visual perspective, it creates a linear effect.  Which in a style sense, is great thing!

Three Benefits To A Monochromatic Outfit

1 | A Monochromatic Outfit Creates an Illusion of Length |

Dressing in separates that are similar or the same color allows the eye to travel up and down without stopping.  This creates the illusion of height or length and makes the wearer appear taller.  A bonus for petites here!

2 | Wearing the same hues makes getting ready a less of a challenge |

If you know you can match black on black, pink on pink, goldenrod on goldenrod, you’ll be more likely to spend less time guessing what goes with what.  Choose a color that works for your skin tone and rock in from head to toe.  See, the Canadians were on to something with that tuxedo business…

3 | You will appear visually more put together |

If you’re looking for effortless dressing, monochromatic outfits are in.  If you’ve ever wondered why, it’s because using the same hues (or slight variations) allow for the wearer to focus on form and function rather than pattern and print.  Dressing in monochromatic tones has a classically-chic vibe that even the edgiest of ladies wants.
