These days, I'm all about the high waisted mom jean. Not the typical mom jeans from the 90's that were massively oversized but the updated Levis high waisted mom jeans that are a bit more flattering. Trying the Updated Levis High Waisted Mom Jeans at Aritzia Westfield UTC Mall

Aritzia is a great new women's clothing store at the Westfield UTC mall (fast becoming one of my favorite malls to shop at). I started shopping at Aritzia when living in Toronto. Aritzia has their own clothing labels, along with carrying some known brands (such as Levis denim) in their shop. The interiors remind me of an open air atrium and their dressing rooms are something of a visual treat.

Since I was on the hunt for high waisted mom jeans, I popped into Aritzia because I knew they carried Levis denim. Sure enough, after a few try-ons of their 501s, I settled on these 501 high waisted skinny mom jeans. Their $98 price point was a nice little incentive too. Here's what I like about the updated version of the 90's jean:

1 | Much more Bum Friendly

Mom jeans are usually very, very high waisted. Which in turn, makes your butt look kind of meh or in other words, flat as flat can be. The new mom jeans are tailored to the bum more, which in turn is more forgiving, and that is a very good thing. Considering that pregnancy tends to put working out on the back-burner for a few months, these jeans have been a Godsend.

2 | High-Waisted is Underestimated

Another reason Levis high-waisted mom jeans are a good thing is that it holds in all the wiggly parts of the stomach. Which, again, for postpartum moms like me, is a very, very helpful item of clothing.

3 | The High Waisted Styles have Come a Long Way

These days, Levis high waisted mom jeans come in a variety of cuts and styles. That means you're bound to find one that suits you. I had a 'fit session' or in other words, tried on a variety of Levi's styles before I found the ones that I loved. The best part of that? There were a variety to choose from. The 501 High-Waisted Skinny jeans turned out to be my favorite.
