Three Must Have Spring Layers to Get You To Warmer Weather

Let's chat a little about three must have spring layers that are a smart addition to your wardrobe.  One of the things I love about the transition from winter to spring in San Diego (which is mild and much warmer compared to the rest of the country) is the amount of layering that you can do with an outfit.  It can be challenging or it can be easy.  It all depends on the smart arsenal of layers you have in your closet.

Three Must Have Spring Layers | Deconstructed

You can start to bust out the cute spring pieces (ie: dresses like this striped swing dress for $32 paired with a fabulous new spring hat (from Gigi Pip on sale for $38 right now!) to get your outfit going.  Where it's really at are the spring layers that will make an outfit come together.  A few must have spring layers have proven season after season to make a comeback in anyone's wardrobe.  It's all about maximizing what you've got, while maintaining your sense of style.

The Moto Jacket |

The moto jacket was popularized in the 50's with the makings of some movie hunks like James Dean and Marlon Brando.  And the moto/biker jacket never really went away thereafter.  It's been and off again, on again love affair throughout the 70's. As of the today, it can be seen in black vegan leather worn cropped with jeans, a white tee, and converse or in camel/tan.

The Denim/Jean Jacket |

I cannot stress enough my love for the almighty denim (jean) jacket.  Jean jackets last forever.  Having had my jean jacket for over 10 years now , I can attest to its longevity.  It's been one of my most faithful workhorses in my closet.  A jean jacket goes great over a maxi dress, a cropped skirt/top, or over any spring dress.  It's a casually finished piece (thrown over a simple black dress with jeans and a sweatshirt or a tailored white button down and skirt outfit) that gives a relaxed, yet tailored vibe to any outfit.

The Cardigan |

The ol' keep you warm and faithful friend, the cardigan.  This must have spring layer is a go to when you want to not only stay warm but you don't want a super heavy layer added to your outfit.  Cardigans can range from cropped to calf and ankle length, cable knit (read: it'll add bulk to your frame) to tailored (read: fitted and streamlined).  So whatever the look you're going for, there is a cardigan for everyone!

Have a favorite spring must have that's a workhorse in your closet?  What is it?  Let me know, I'd love to add it to the list.
