My Go-To Summer Outfits

Summer outfits are best when they are a mix of pieces that are comfortable, easy to put together, and have that air of effortlessness. When you can mix and match them together? That’s less time you have to spend in your closet trying to figure everything out and more time you have to get out the door! Here are my go-to summer outfits that I mix and match together to maximize my summer wardrobe.

Summer outfit #1

Wrap skirt + white shirt with sandals - This is my run out the door go-to and want that effortless, easy look. A wrap skirt is an easy piece that can also feel very lightweight but give off that “complete outfit” vibe. Pull it together with a white tee, tank, or top and a front or full tuck. Doing this gives the effect of creating a tailored waistline and looks much more “effortless” than just a slouchy tee hanging out around the skirt. Pair with a slip on sandal and out the door you go. My skirt is the Florence skirt in tapenade stripe and the Ines top in white (both from last year) are from the brand Joli Nu, a local sustainable brand based out of both San Diego and Austin. I linked some similar styles of great wrap skirts below.

SUmmer outfit #2

Denim shorts and a white tank with casual white sneakers - What makes an outfit feel authentically you? For me, part if it is comfort but also being able to wear one thing a lot of ways. This same white Joli Nu Ines tank from outfit #1 is being used again here, tucked in, with denim cut off shorts. It’s always that slight tuck of the shirt that gives an outfit an “effortless” feel. My denim shorts are Agolde Parker Long Shorts. I purchased the Dee Ultra High Rise last year (or was it two summers ago??) and I knew I loved the feel of the shorts so much that this year, I invested in a lighter wash, slightly lower rise (still higher but not as high as the Dee) and about a 3.5-4” inseam and I LOVE them! I know they’re going to get a ton of wear. To finish off a comfortable outfit, I always turn to my Eda Freda Salvador sneakers, which I find go with about 90% of my wardrobe these days. (These shoes, while an investment, are worth in ten fold to me. Size down 1/2 to 1 full size as they run roomier in the toe. You can also use the discount code below for a savings.

Freda Salvador discount code - CONNI15 for 15% off the Eda Sneaker (or any other full price shoe).

SUMMER OUTFIT #3

Denim shorts + Bodysuit and Sandals - A big trend that I’ve still been wear a lot these days is a bodysuit with shorts or skirts. I love the ease of a one piece that can mix and match with bottoms. This is the Everlane Bodysuit (not available any longer, so I linked a few similar below) that works great with my same Agolde denim shorts from outfit #2. Where I throw in something interesting to make the outfit elevated is with my headband (also repurposed for wear) and my shoes. I think a great shoe can do so much for a simple outfit. These were a Nordstrom splurge this spring from Frame. When it comes to multipurpose sandals, think colorways like black, tan, or caramel.

summer outfit #4

Back to the ease of a skirt + top combo, this time with a polka dot lightweight cotton midi skirt. Not quite as much volume as a maxi skirt so it feels a little bit more effortless and easy for a dinner out. This skirt is from Mango and I nabbed it for under $60 and I think it’s on sale even more now. It’s a bit sheer but with nude undergarments or a slip, it’s just perfect. It has a zip closure and I almost always wear it with a crop top, or tank, and a denim jacket or leather jacket for a night time look. The bag and top are both sourced vintage (here’s where I shop) from Palm Springs. Sandals are last year from Loeffler Randall and I love them. They take a time or two to wear in but the quality is fantastic.
